Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Anna/Hannah Edith Palser was born about 1857 in New Zealand – the daughter of John Palser and Jane Dempster.

She grew up in Waikouaiti, north of Dunedin.

Anna married John Middleton Leggett, an expressman, at Hampden, North Otago on 27 February 1886.

They had two children and when Anna signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Castle St, Dunedin.

John died in 1912 and Anna died on 26 November 1934, they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
