Emma Serena Orchard (1871-1951). Daughter of Bible Christian minister Rev John Orchard (1838-1907) and Susan Orchard (1839-1906) who was stationed at the Christchurch Bible Christian Church which was in Ferry Road. Emma was the fifth daughter of 13 children. She was an accomplished musician and studied singing overseas and taught in Christchurch. Her sister Ada Ellis (1869-1950) also signed the petition.
