Elizabeth Wiggins was born in about 1860 in England; she arrived in New Zealand about 1872.

Elizabeth married John Joseph Brooks, a painter, in 1878. They had six children.

When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living in Richardson St, St Kilda, Dunedin.

John died in 1910 at Bathgate St, South Dunedin and Elizabeth died at her son’s home in Forbury Cres, St Kilda on 2 August 1927. They are buried in a family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
