Emily Ann Logie (nee Long) was born in 1861 in Eaglehawk, Victoria, Australia to Eliza Jane and Matthew Long. In 1881 Emily Ann married John Logie and the couple had four children, with two of those children surviving childhood. Emily Ann, John, and their children lived in South Dunedin and Christchurch before settling at Hine St, New Plymouth in 1911. While living in New Plymouth Emily Ann worked as a domestic servant while John worked as a railway engineman. Emily Ann died in 1939, aged 78, seven years after John. The couple are buried at Te Henui Cemetery.
