Emily Mary Longdill was born in Auckland in 1860, the daughter of Pynson Wilmot Longdill (1812-1875) and his wife Harriet nee Robinson (1832-1911).

She married twice, the first taking place in Auckland on 12 September 1895 to Johan Oscar Skogsborg Fair. They had two children. In 1897 Bertram Rudolf Fair was born. He later enlisted for the FIrst World War and died at Messines in 1917. Her second son, Horace Charles Skogsborg Fair, was born in 1902.

Emily was widowed.

She then married Horace Ruston Rich in 1908.

Emily died in 1927 at 67 years, and is buried at Purewa, Auckland. Horace died in 1937 and is buried at Mangere cemetery with his second wife Ether Muriel Mossman, the daughter of Emily’s sister Mary.

Her sister Harriet Elizabeth Longdill also signed sheet 12 of the Petition.
