Marion/Minnie Edith Marshall was born in 1866 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Marshall, a merchant, and Marion Campbell.

She grew up in Dunedin and when she signed the suffrage petition Marion was living with her family in York Place working as a dressmaker.

She died in Dunedin on 30 November 1938 and is buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
