Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Agnes Gordon Roberts was born on 14 February 1857 in Liverpool, England – the daughter of Joseph Roberts, a book keeper, and Marion Gray.

She emigrated to New Zealand and she married Eugene Christian Remshardt, a book keeper, in 1878.

They had two daughters.

In the 1880s Eugene started a successful business as a rabbitskin and wool exporter and when Agnes signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Grant St, Dunedin.

Agnes died at their home on 18 May 1924 and Eugene died in 1942, they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
