Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

This entry is either for Ann Mary Petrie or her daughter Ann Geggie.

Ann Mary Petrie was born about 1820 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She married John Geggie, a shepherd, and they had three daughters before they emigrated to Otago in 1856 on the Strathmore.

They had a further three children after their arrival and, by 1860, the family were living in the Puerua district where they had a farm called 'Mount Belleview'.

Ann died at her home on 18 November 1896 and John died in 1904. They are buried in the Warepa Cemetery.

Their daughter Ann was born on 28 July 1855 at Kinkell, Aberdeenshire.

She emigrated to Otago with her parents and lived with them on the family farm 'Mount Belleview' in the Puerua district.

She did not marry and she died at Balclutha on 31 January 1936 and is buried in the Balclutha Cemetery.

She 'took a keen interest in church matters, and was highly respected by all who knew her.'
