Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Grace Inglis MacAdam was born about 1843 in Muirkirk, Ayshire, Scotland.

She married John McKinlay in 1862 and soon after they emigrated to Otago.

They settled in Dunedin where they had one daughter and 11 sons.

When Grace signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Allandale Road, St Clair.

In the 1900’s they moved to a farm at Abbotsford, near Dunedin where John died on 19 June 1915 and Grace died shortly after on 13 July  – they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
