Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Hannah Graham was born in 1872 in Weardale, Durham, England – the daughter of Jacob Baty, a bootmaker, and Margaret Baty. (See 33 Mrs Graham)

Hannah emigrated to Otago in 1879 on the Margaret Galbraith with her family.

They settled at Highcliff on the Otago Peninsula where her father took up farming and where Hannah signed the suffrage petition.

She married Thomas Henry Pugh, a farmer, in 1903 and they had four children.

They farmed at Strath Taieri before retiring to Mosgiel where Hannah died on 3 August 1948 and Thomas died in 1958.

They are buried in the family grave in the East Taieri Cemetery.
