Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Hannah/Anna Elizabeth Muff was born on 21 July 1854  in Stockholm, Sweden – the daughter of English parents Isaac Muff, a coachman, and Mary Ann Roberts. (See 199 Mrs Muff)

Her family returned to England in the late 1850s and they emigrated to Canterbury in 1874 on the Duke of Edinburgh.

The family settled in Christchurch and Hannah married James Hiron, a baker, in 1878.

They had no children and when Hannah signed the suffrage petition she was living in Linwood, Christchurch.

She died on 5 March 1901 and is buried in the Linwood Cemetery.

James re-married and he died in 1931.
