Annie Harriet McKellar Knyvett was born in New Zealand in 1858 to parents Edmund and Eliza Anne Knyvett. For a century and a half the Knyvett family were highly regarded for their work as gifted musicians and composers. Her father’s occupation is listed as farmer / musician. Annie married William Davis Morris Banks in 1880. They lived in Kiwitea, a small settlement near Feilding, where they raised their four children. William died 28 November 1904 but Annie outlived him by a further 30 years, finally passing away on 8 February 1934.
