Helen McQuade was born in Armagh, Ireland in about 1841. She married William Beavers (also spelt Bevers) about 1861 and they had six children in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Two children died in infancy.
They emigrated to Otago in 1875 on the Auckland. They had a further four children after their arrival.
The family lived in Bridge St, Caversham Rise, Dunedin. Helen died there on 22 September 1918.
William died in 1929. Helen and William are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
