Helen Duncan was born on 20 March 1867 in Glasgow, Scotland – the daughter of William Duncan, an engineer, and Catherine Wilson. (See 85 Catherine Duncan)

She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1875 on the Invercargill and they settled in Dunedin.

When Helen signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Eden Street.

he did not marry and she died at her home on 18 December 1904 – she is buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
