Annie Joss was born about 1838 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
She emigrated to New Zealand and she married John Stewart Henderson, a carpenter and contractor and a widower, in 1874.
They had a son the following year and when Annie signed the suffrage petition they were living in Tweed St, Invercargill.
John died in 1906 and Annie died on 25 February 1922, they are buried together in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
