Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Janet Rodger was born in New Zealand in 1866 – the daughter of William Rodger, a farmer, and Amelia.

When Janet signed the suffrage petition she was living with her widowed mother and siblings at Broomhill near Broad Bay on the Otago Peninsula and she was working as a maid.

Janet did not marry and she died on 8 May 1904.

She is buried in the family grave in the Portobello Cemetery.
