Jane/Jeanie Jessiman was born on April 30th 1855 in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland – the daughter of Alexander Jessiman, an agricultural labourer, & Isabella Forbes.
She married Alexander Mennie Braik, a compositor, in Huntly in 1879 & shortly after they emigrated to New Zealand.
They lived in Dunedin & had 3 daughters – when Jeanie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Heriot Row.
Jeanie died at her home on January 6th 1896.
Alexander re-married in 1898, he died in 1912 & his second wife died the following year.
They are all buried with Jeanie & Alexander’s daughter in the Northern Cemetery.
