Jeannie McDonald Stevenson was the daughter of Robert & Margaret Grant, born in 1868 at Bannockburn Station, near Gladstone, Wairarapa.

She married Alexander Forbes Stevenson at Gladstone in 1889; they continued to live & work on her parents’ farm until Alexander was able to start clearing land in his own rights at Kaitawa, in the Tararua ranges near Pahiatua.

She had nine children; suffering the loss of her two elder sons in WW1, both killed in France.
She died in 1942 in Palmerston North, and is buried in Kelvin Grove Cemetary along with Alexander.
