Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Jessie Ann Packham was born in 1865 in Edmonton, Middlesex – the daughter of John Packham and Hannah Reeves. (See 163 Hannah Packham)

She emigrated to Canterbury in 1880 with her mother and sister on the Opawa – her mother held the position of matron on the voyage.

Jessie married Charles Herbert Blunt, a warehouseman, in 1888 and they had three children.

When she signed the suffrage petition they were living in North East Valley, Dunedin.

They later lived in Canterbury, Cambridge and Auckland where Charles died in 1937 and Jessie died on 19 August 1941.

They are buried together in the St Mathias Churchyard, Panmure.
