Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Janet/Jessie Richard Logan was born at 'Violet Grove', Royal Terrace, Dunedin on 24 November 1861 – the daughter of John Logan, the clerk to the Superintendent of Otago,  and Janet Alexander Pollock. (See 33 Janet A Logan)

She married Owen James Hodge, the head teacher at Highcliff school, on 29 September 1886 at her parent’s home in Dunedin.

They had no children and Owen later worked as a solicitor and they went to live in Te Puke.

Janet died on 19 April 1925 her obituary said she 'was of a kindly disposition, and was highly esteemed”.

Owen died later the same year, they are both buried in the Te Puke Old Cemetery.
