Johanne Elizabeth Luks was born in Aldenberg, Germany about 1844.

She married Frederich Wilhelm Eggers, a storekeeper, on 25 January 1871, at her brother’s home in Waihemo, North Otago.

They had seven children and lived in Dunedin.

When Johanne signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Albany St, Dunedin – Johanne also signed the 1892 petition.

Frederich died in 1901 and Johanne died on 14 April 1925, they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
