Julia Mary Morris was born about 1840 and she married James Joyce in England in 1874.
Shortly after their marriage they emigrated to Otago on the “Jessie Readman". They had no children.
When Julia signed the suffrage petition they were living at Parkside, Caversham and James was working as a groom.
James died in 1895 and Julia died on 24 August 1913. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
