Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Catherine/Kate White was born about 1850 in Edinburgh, Scotland – the daughter of James Wilson White, a carpenter, and Agnes Renfrew. She came to New Zealand about 1860 with her family and they settled in Dunedin.

Catherine married Andrew Walker Bremner, a clerk, on 22 July 1870 in Dunedin and they had two children.

When Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Albany Street.

Andrew died in 1908 & Catherine died at her home on 25 July 1921, they are buried together in the Northern Cemetery.
