Kate Emma Thomson was born in 1864 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Elliot Thomson, a farmer, and Catherine Sheath.
She married Alfred Burn, a clerk, in 1893 and they had one daughter.
When Kate signed the suffrage petition they were living in Belleknowes, Dunedin.
Alfred died in 1933 and Kate died at her home on 29 April 1942 – they are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
