Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Lizzie/Elizabeth Jessie Agnes Dallas was born in 1869 in New Zealand – the daughter of Thomas Dallas, a groom, and Elizabeth Dunnet.
Her father died in 1882 and Lizzie’s mother was left with 11 children to care for - as the eldest daughter some of the work must have gone to Lizzie.
When she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Bishop’s Road, Dunedin working as a tailoress.
She did not marry and she died on 18 April 1950 in Dunedin – she was cremated and her ashes were scattered.
