Lucy Ida Bray was born in Dawlish, Devon, England in 1870 – the daughter of George Edmund Bray, a railway station superintendent, and Lucy Bovey Piller. (See 52 L B Bray)

She emigrated to New Zealand in 1883 on the Ionic with her family and they settled in Dunedin.

Lucy did not marry and she moved to Wellington in the 1900s with her family.

She died on 21 May 1942 and is buried in the Karori Cemetery, Wellington.
