Lizzie Pont was born in Sussex, England in 1866 – the daughter of George Pont, a miner, and Eliza Adeline Henty. (See 144 Mrs G Pont)
She came to New Zealand with her parents in the mid-1870s and they settled in Southland.
Lizzie married Andrew Nicholson, a mariner, in 1883 – they had seven children and when Lizzie signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Bradshaw St, South Dunedin.
In later life they moved to Wellington where Andrew died in 1918 and Lizzie died on 30 March 1942 – they are buried together in the Karori Cemetery.
