Louisa Clarke Morison was born in County Donegal, Ireland about 1854 – the daughter of James Morison, a tailor, and Margaret Clarke. (See 55 Mrs Morison)
She emigrated to Otago in 1874 on the Auckland with her family and settled in Dunedin.
Louisa married Adam James Irvine Gardiner, a carpenter, in 1885, they had no children.
When Louisa signed the suffrage petition she was living in Great King St, Dunedin working as a storekeeper.
Sometime before this Adam was 'sent back to his relatives in Scotland by the Mental Hospital Authorities, he being a Mental Patient'.
Louisa died at the Chalet Hospital in Dunedin on 8 March 1926 and is buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
