Martha Archibald was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Archibald and Sarah Witton.
When Martha signed the suffrage petition she was living with her family in Grant St, Dunedin working as a dressmaker.
Sehe moved to the Wellington district in the late 1890s with her family.
Martha did not marry but she had three children, one who died in infancy.
Martha died on 2 November 1956, she was cremated and her ashes buried in the Karori Cemetery.
