Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Anderina Mary Black was born in 1866 in New Zealand - the daughter of Andrew Black, a librarian, and Mary Buchanan.

Anderina attended the South School in Dunedin and lived with her family in Maitland St. In 1885 she was awarded the senior prize for bible and church history from the St Andrews Presbyterian Church.

When Anderina signed the suffrage petition she was working as a saleswoman. Her sister Janet also signed the petition.

She did not marry and died on 17 November 1947. She is buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
