Margaret Matheson Harvey was born in 1870 in New Zealand – the daughter of William Harvey and Mary.

She married William Clark Carson, a coachman, in 1889 and they had five children.

When Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living in George St, Dunedin.

Margaret died on 6 July 1943 at her home in Dunedin, she is buried in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.

William died in 1946 in Alexandra, he is buried in the Alexandra Cemetery.
