Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Mary Ann was born about 1846. She married William Craven, a miner from Denmark. They had five children and lived for a time in Waitahuna in Otago.
When she signed the suffrage petition, Mary Ann was living in Great King St, Dunedin, while William was mining in Central Otago. Two of her daughters - Dagmar and Laura - were also living at this address and signed the petition. Another married daughter, Helen Lee, also signed the petition.
William died suddenly in 1899. Mary Ann died on 2 February 1900 in the Dunedin Hospital. She is buried in the Southern Cemetery, Dunedin.
