Mabel married Frederick Fredrickson in 1892. They had a daughter the following year who died at two months of age while they were living in Oamaru.

When Mabel signed the suffrage petition she was in Castle St, Dunedin possibly visiting her father and his family.

Mabel and Fredrick lived in Stillwater on the West Coast where Fredrick worked as a bushman. In about 1904 they adopted a daughter, Vera Elsie and in the 1910s the family moved back to Oamaru where Fredrick was a dredgehand. He appears to have died in Invercargill in 1920 and is buried in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
