Margaret Dickson was born in Victoria, Australia in 1857 – the daughter of James Dickson, a builder, and Margaret Swinton.
She came to Otago with her family in 1862 on the Gothenburg and they settled in Milton in South Otago.
Margaret married Henry McConechy, a compositor and printer, on 10 November 1880 at Milton. They had two children and settled in Dunedin - living in Albert St, now part of Stuart St. Margaret's sister-in-law Christina also signed the petition.
In the 1900s the family moved to Invercargill where Henry died in 1920. He is buried with family in the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery.
Margaret died in Milton on 6 October 1936 and she is buried in the Milton/Fairfax Cemetery.
