Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Scott Carson was born in 1864 in Waikouaiti – the daughter of James Carson, a carpenter, and Margaret Carey Hosie. (See 91 Maggie Carson)

When she signed the suffrage petition Margaret was living with her family in Waikouaiti working as a dressmaker.

She married David Brodie Park, a labourer, on 31 January 1896 in the Waikouaiti parish and they had seven children.

In 1913, within the space of six weeks, their 16-year-old daughter Margaret and 13-year-old son Walter died at their home 'Glenmavis' at Windsor near Oamaru.

They later moved to Timaru where David died in 1949 and Margaret died on 10 August 1950. They are buried in the family grave in the Oamaru Cemetery.
