Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret and her husband James arrived in New Zealand about 1862 from Ireland.

They settled in Dunedin where they had five children and where James worked as a platelayer for the railways.

Margaret signed the suffrage petition in Caversham.

She died at her home in Sydney Street on 29 April 1906 and James died in 1918 – they are buried in the family grave in the Southern Cemetery.
