Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Helen Fraser was born in New Zealand in 1866, the daughter of Hugh Fraser, a saddler, and Mary Austin Graham.

When she signed the petition, Margaret was living with her sister, Mary Isabel Fraser, and her mother, Mary Austen Fraser, who also signed the petition.

Margaret was a nurse and was present when her mother died in 1900.

She married Thomas Archibald Fraser, a sheep farmer and widower with two sons, in 1901. They had no children of their own.

Thomas died in 1907 and is buried with his first wife in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.

Margaret died on 9 October 1954 at Ross Home, Dunedin. She was cremated and her ashes scattered.
