Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Fraser was born about 1855 in Scotland – the daughter of James Fraser.

She came to New Zealand about 1870 and she married William Taylor, a miner, on 25 July 1875 in St Paul’s Church, Arrowtown.

They had one daughter and when Margaret signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Cardrona and Margaret was working as a dressmaker.

In later life they retired to Dunedin where William died in 1927 and Margaret died on 27 September 1938, they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
