Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Marjory/Margery Logan Ferguson was born on 9 August 1861 in Lasswade, Edinburghshire, Scotland – the daughter of Marjory Logan.

She came to New Zealand with her mother in the early 1860s - her mother married James Ferguson, a merchant seaman, in 1865 and her brother John was born the following year.

Marjory travelled back to Scotland with her mother and brother sometime after her father died and her mother died there in 1889.

She returned to Dunedin and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living in Frederick Street.

Marjory died on 21 May 1942, she was cremated and her ashes interred in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
