Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley.

Martha Emma Hoskins was born in 1864 in Victoria, Australia – the daughter of Peter Arthur Hoskins and Martha Tredget.

She came to New Zealand with her family in the 1870’s and she married John Eustace, a tinsmith, on 13 January  1883  in Dunedin.

They had five children and when Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition they were living in Union Street.

Martha died on 6 January 1934 and John died in 1944 – they are buried together in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
