Ann MacIver/McIvor was born on 9 January 1868 in Barvas on the Isle of Lewis in Scotland – the daughter of George McIvor, an agricultural labourer, and Janet MacAskill.

She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1874 on the Invercargill and they settled in Dunedin.

When Ann signed the suffrage petition she was living in Maybank, North East Valley.

She died on 19 September 1941 at Ross Home, North East Valley – she is buried with her sister Margaret in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
