Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Elizabeth/Lizzie Borthwick was born in 1871 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Borthwick and Ellen. (See 46 Mrs Borthwick)

When Elizabeth signed the suffrage petition she was living with her widowed mother and brother in Albany St, Dunedin working as a dressmaker.

She appears to have had a dressmaking business as she placed notices in the newspaper in the 1890s and 1900s advertising for staff.

Her life after the 1900s is unclear.
