Margaret McKenzie McNeill was born on 25 April 1872 in New Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland – the daughter of William McNeill and Mary Mays. (See 150 Mrs McNeill)

She emigrated to Otago with her family in 1879 on the Oamaru and they settled in Fairfield where she signed the suffrage petition.

Margaret worked for a time as Matron of the Campbell Convalescent Home at St Clair.

She died in Dunedin on 28 April 1927 and is buried with her parents in the Green Island Cemetery.
