Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Agnes Roberts was born about 1847 in Scotland.

She married Thomas Barclay, a carpenter, on 11 September 1874 in Falkirk, Stirlingshire and they had two daughters before they emigrated to New Zealand about 1878.

They settled in Dunedin where a further four children were born.

When Agnes signed the suffrage petition they were living in Duncan St, (now Wesley St) in South Dunedin.

Thomas died at their home in 1916 and Agnes died on 3 October 1934, they are buried in the family grave in the Andersons Bay Cemetery.
