Catherine McCormack was born about 1842.

She married Harry Jay, a carpenter, on 7 January 1863 at St Joseph’s Church, Dunedin.

They had 10 children and when Catherine signed the suffrage petition the family were living in Leith St, Dunedin.

When they celebrated their Golden Wedding they were living in Christchurch.

They moved back to Leith St soon after where Catherine died on December 28 1914.

Harry died in 1923, they are buried in the family grave in the Northern Cemetery.
