Euphemia Ritchie was born about 1864 in New Zealand – the daughter of James Ritchie, a farmer, and Margaret Falconer.
She married Olof Christian, a sailmaker from Sweden, on 26 March 1886 in Dunedin.
Shortly after their marriage Olof was declared insolvent and the goods from his business was sold by auction.
Euphemia and Olof had two sons, one who died in infancy, and when Euphemia signed the suffrage petition the family were living at 147 Princes St, Dunedin.
Olof died at their home in 1900 and Euphemia died on 19 January 1913, they are buried with their son in the Southern Cemetery.
