Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley

Margaret Angus was born around 1849 in Scotland. She married Donald Stalker, a blacksmith, on 13 July 1871 in Glasgow, Scotland.

They had two children before they emigrated to Canterbury on the Rakaia in 1875.

They had a further three children in New Zealand and, when she signed the suffrage petition, Margaret and her family were living in Maitland St, Dunedin. That same year their 14 year old son Donald died at their home.

Donald snr. died in 1906 and Margaret died on 27 December 1919. They are buried together in the Southern Cemetery.
