Grace Elizabeth was born about 1856 and when she signed the suffrage petition she was living with her husband David Thomson, a carpenter, in Gladstone, North East Valley, Dunedin.

They had eight children, two who died in infancy.

David died in 1928 in Dunedin and Grace died at her daughter’s home in Gore on 16 July 1936.

They are buried together in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
