Biography contributed by Katherine Blakeley
Catherine Ann Durin Manson was born on 10 January 1865 in Orkney, Scotland – the daughter of James Manson, a fisherman, and Ann Stout. (See 59 Ann Manson)
Catherine emigrated to Otago in the 1870s with her family and they settled in Dunedin.
She married Horace Samuel Elliott, a seaman, on August 1892 at Knox Church, Dunedin.
They had no children and, when Catherine signed the suffrage petition they were living in Frederick St near her parents.
They moved to Auckland soon after their marriage and by the late 1900s Horace was working as a hotel keeper.
He died in 1936 and Catherine died on 21 February 1938, they were both cremated and their ashes interred in the Northern Cemetery, Dunedin.
