Elizabeth Ann Evans was born in 1865 in New Zealand – the daughter of Daniel Evans and Elizabeth Thomas.
She married George Henry Barnett, a carter, in 1890 and when she signed the suffrage petition they were living in Blacks Road, North East Valley, Dunedin.
They did not have any children and, in 1920 they parted company.
In 1927 Elizabeth applied for a separation and for a maintenance order as George had not kept up his payments.
George died in the Clyde Hospital in 1929 – he is buried in the Clyde Cemetery.
Elizabeth died on 8 July 1944 in Dunedin – she was cremated & her ashes were scattered.
